Something that always strikes me as strange is how much money people will put into monuments. Some of them, dating back to the 1800's, were in great shape but others were falling apart. When we die there really is just one generation behind us that 'might' care enough to keep up our grave sites. After that, not so much. So, why spend so much money on some big slab of granite?
I told my husband to please not let me take up space for the living...cremate me and then spread my ashes out at Virgin Falls. I'm sure that he would not be able to do either. Cremation creeps him out. Lol.
As I look outside right now there is a thick layer of fog and I can't help but think of jumping in my car and heading back over there. Pictures in fog would really be creepy there.
Check this one out. It's a pyramid and was done in 1917!! Read the sign. It really is a lovely tribute to their father, but a pyramid? Really??
Something else I noticed. There were, literally, hundreds of monuments that were, what appeared to be, replicas of the Washington monument. Hmmmm....were these people masons perhaps? Is there a conspiracy in all this someplace? Maybe it hearkens back to a time when there was more respect for the government than there is now. Oooops..won't go there right now. LOL.
Have to run. Almost time for church.
Have a great Sunday! Take a nap!
