I also wanted to check out the Croft House that is on the property. The reason there is a Nashville Zoo is because of this home. According to this 2007 article in The Tennessean, it's the second oldest in the county and was owned by the Croft sisters. They were the fifth generation to live on the property. In 1964 they deeded the property to the local museum as long as they could live there until they died and the museum would pay their property taxes. They wanted 200 of the 300 acres to be turned into a nature park for the people of Nashville.
I could not wait to get to this house. It sits in the back part of the property and I doubt most people even know it's there. It was a beautiful day and the colors were gorgeous.
In addition to the house I did actually take some zoo pics.
Can I just say flamingos are creepy? I had no idea until I zoomed in on its face. EEEKK....very strange looking animals.
That's it for now.
